Israel Announces Ceasefire Agreement With Hamas and Hostage Provisions
Israel has publicly confirmed its approval of a deal with Hamas that includes a ceasefire and the return of fifty hostages held in the Gaza Strip within a four-day window. The confirmation came in a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office, carrying the position as reported by TASS.
According to the document, the government intends to release all hostages as part of the negotiated plan. In the initial phase, at least fifty women and children are expected to be freed within four days. The agreement also foresees a halt to hostilities in Gaza during this period. If ten additional hostages are released, the ceasefire would be extended by an extra day, extending the pause in combat accordingly.
The statement notes that once the ceasefire concludes, Israel plans to resume military operations in Gaza and pursue the objective of dismantling Hamas, in line with the government’s stated wartime aims.
Earlier, the Israeli government indicated that an agreement had been reached with the Palestinian movement Hamas regarding the release of hostages held in Gaza, reinforcing the broader effort to address the situation.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Netanyahu outlined Israel’s goals in its ongoing conflict, underscoring the strategic aims guiding the military response against Hamas.
