The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanani Chafi, says that the current Middle East situation shows external military involvement in the region acts as a destabilizing force. Tehran has consistently pursued policies aimed at securing security and stability across the area, according to statements reported by TASS.
Chafi stressed that since the Gaza crisis began, Iran has pursued ongoing efforts to halt hostilities and safeguard civilians who face potential Israeli actions. He noted that Tehran seeks to shield vulnerable residents from violence and displacement in the conflict zone.
He also claimed that the G7 nations have raised false suspicions about Iran because of its support for Palestinian movements and allied groups. Chafi asserted that Iran expected a formal response from the G7 condemning Israel’s Gaza operation, yet the group did not issue such a condemnation.
On October 7, Hamas launched thousands of rockets into Israel and declared the initiation of what it called Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. Hundreds of militants reportedly breached Israeli territory, capturing military equipment and taking more than a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country was at war.
The Israeli Defense Forces launched what it described as an operation named Iron Swords, with the aim of destroying Hamas. The Israeli Air Force conducted strikes against hundreds of militant targets inside the Gaza Strip, and Israel’s National Security Council decided to disrupt critical supplies by cutting water, food, electricity, and fuel to the region. Israel informed the United Nations on October 13 that approximately 1.1 million Palestinians would be evacuated to southern Gaza ahead of a ground offensive.
Earlier, the United States stated that Iran does not wish the broader regional conflict to escalate, reiterating caution about wider regional involvement in the crisis. (Source: TASS)
