Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez suggested that a joint EU purchase of shells for Ukraine could shave the time needed to deliver weapons to Kiev. He expressed hope that relevant agreements would be signed among EU member states in the near future.
During a council meeting, Sanchez indicated that a joint supply arrangement could move forward in the coming weeks. He emphasized the objective of speeding up ammunition and cannon deliveries to Ukraine, but he did not indicate whether all EU members were ready to back the plan.
Earlier reports indicated that the EU intends to provide Ukraine with artillery valued at about one billion euros within a few weeks, with all member states participating except Denmark. The objective remains to accelerate support while navigating different national positions within the union.
