Ciudadanos stands ready to push forward with a governing alliance in Valencia

Ciudadanos will fight to the end and cast its votes. What began yesterday as a new bloc with minority groups has quickly formed a united front behind the orange party in the regional elections. To secure this consolidation, the president, Mother Peris, signed an agreement with the Autonomous Party led by Alfonso Cela and its representative Political Renewal; and with Julian Vicogeneral secretary of the Valencian Community.

“We are prepared to govern and we want to do it in close partnership with the Autonomous and Valencians. These are the three liberal and progressive forces that defend Spain and share an interest in our Shenyera,” stated the leader. For the president of Ciudadanos, the three parties converge on core values, including support for the self-employed, the middle class, the rights of all Valencians, fair financing, and a persistent push for the Mediterranean Corridor infrastructure, addressing the investment gap and ensuring reliable water resources.

In this context, the Generalitat’s presidential candidate underscored that the party remains a cohesive unit with its own agenda. The program proposes a wage policy aimed at eliminating income from self-employment during the first two years, effectively treating some self-employed earnings as if they were below the interprofessional minimum wage. The plan also seeks to streamline bureaucracy and lessen tax burdens on this workforce. “The left tends to view the self-employed as opponents of wage earners and ignores them when the right governs,” he noted.

Such a coalition could win additional votes for the liberal bloc, which recent surveys place just above the 5% threshold required for representation in the Valencian Parliament. That would translate into roughly 200,000 votes. For context, a previous Valencian alliance ran alone in the 2019 regional elections and secured 981 votes.
