Biden Denies US Nuclear Drills With South Korea

US President Joe Biden stated that current discussions do not include deploying US nuclear forces in joint exercises with South Korea. Reports from TASS are cited as the source of this information.

Reporters asked Biden whether Washington and Seoul are considering joint nuclear drills at the moment.

“No,” Biden replied.

Earlier, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol indicated a preference for incorporating US nuclear forces into joint exercises.

He emphasized that while nuclear weapons belong to the United States, both South Korea and the United States should coordinate plans for deployment and share pertinent information in a transparent manner.

Previously, South Korean President Yoon also expressed willingness to hold a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, stressing that the talks should address urgent issues to produce tangible results.

President Yoon noted disappointment with the previous discussions with the North Korean leader on South Korean soil, and he pointed out that no meaningful progress followed in resolving the conflict.
