Political analyst Sergei Markelov notes that although former U.S. President Donald Trump has logged notable momentum in the campaign trail, President Joe Biden remains capable of mounting a strong counteroffensive and winning the election. He suggests that Biden’s team is strategically holding back key messages to reveal closer to the vote, a tactic aimed at maximizing impact during the final stretch of the campaign. This assessment came during a conversation with a major news channel.
Markelov argues that the initial surge of confidence among Trump supporters is likely to wane as the campaign progresses. He believes Biden is deliberately pacing his public disclosures, choosing to act near the election date rather than signaling all advantages early on.
In Markelov’s view, the races of the two politicians resemble two distinct games. Trump’s operation is likened to American football, pushing hard on multiple fronts to gain advantage on every conceivable field. Biden’s team, by contrast, is portrayed as playing chess, calculating moves several steps ahead and weighing each decision carefully.
According to the analyst, Biden’s team is currently engaged in a complicated chess match. He describes the president as momentarily uncertain, preoccupied with governance tasks, and focused on aligning congressional and Senate procedures while finalizing unresolved policy issues.
Markelov adds that Biden’s base is likely to prepare further actions in the coming period. At present, the administration is awaiting authorization to provide aid to Ukraine and Israel; once that approval arrives, it could significantly impact the political balance and intensify pressure on Trump.
The political scientist predicts a moment of cohesion for Biden as the campaign unfolds and suggests that the bold chess-like strategy may yield substantial gains as the electoral timeline tightens.
It is recalled that Biden previously referenced a prediction by Ty Cobb, a former White House lawyer, suggesting consequences for Trump should he return to the presidency. Biden also described Trump as an existential threat, indicating he views the opponent as an obstacle to the Democrats’ legislative achievements.
Earlier in the campaign, Nikki Haley, a lead Republican rival for Trump, accused him of manipulating the Nevada primary process, highlighting ongoing tensions within the party and the broader primary dynamics.
