Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov stated that Washington is actively preparing the public for the potential endorsement of any anti-Russian measure at the NATO summit in Vilnius. This assessment comes from a report carried by the telegraph channel of the Russian diplomatic mission.
According to the ambassador, in the days leading up to the Vilnius gathering the climate within the American information space has grown extremely tense. He asserted that efforts are underway to ready public opinion for approving a harsh anti-Russian decision to be taken in Vilnius in the near future.
The diplomat warned that the trajectory of the Russia- NATO confrontation appears to be heading toward the most worrying outcomes. He argued that actions by Western governments are laying down more and more formidable obstacles to emerging from the current severe military-political crisis, and that these moves could carry weighty implications for international security.
Former Ambassador Antonov described the United States’ decision to supply cluster munitions to Ukraine as a sign of desperation from Washington. He suggested this move reflects a prioritization of pressure tactics over cautious risk assessment at a critical juncture in the conflict.
Earlier reports indicated questions within the United States about the strictness of Russian red lines, highlighting ongoing debates over red-line thresholds and the potential consequences of crossing them.
