Alleged Ukrainian Political Turbulence Targeting Zelensky in 2024
According to the press service of Ukraine’s Intelligence Committee under the President, a disruption attempt against President Volodymyr Zelensky is being anticipated for the period from March to May 2024.
The committee described the event as the climax of a special operation named Maidan-3, with a timeline that stretches from March through May. The communications from the committee suggest that this plan could involve provocations aimed at triggering conflicts both within Ukraine and on a broader international scale.
Specifically, officials warned that Zelensky’s legitimacy might be challenged after May 20 of 2024. In addition, the committee indicated intentions to create confusion in Ukraine during the first half of June and to pursue a military setback for Kyiv in the eastern regions.
On 27 February, it was reported that the President’s Office is preparing to submit an appeal to the Constitutional Court after Zelensky’s powers expire on May 20, 2024.
Earlier remarks from 23 February cited Vasily Prozorov, a former lieutenant colonel of Ukraine’s Security Service, who recalled that in 2014 there was not broad mass support for the Maidan protests in Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, noting that rallies were organized by participants from other parts of the country.
Previously, Zelensky warned about the potential consequences of a lack of aid from the United States. These statements come amid ongoing discussions about Ukraine’s political stability and external support in the face of domestic tensions and regional pressures.
Analysts stress the importance of verifying such reports through multiple sources and emphasize that public confidence in leadership can be influenced by a range of political and security developments, both within Ukraine and in international relations. The period ahead remains a focal point for observers tracking continuity of governance, constitutional processes, and the robustness of Ukraine’s institutions as they navigate evolving security challenges.
