Just forty-eight hours after its official unveiling, the standalone platform supporting Generalitat President Ximo Puig continues to attract backing, already surpassing five thousand members. The backing comes from a network of scholars, professionals, and civic figures who align with the platform’s founding principles. A public manifesto, signed by more than sixty individuals from various sectors of Alicante society, will be presented at the University of Alicante’s venue in the city center, with a noon start on Saturday. The document articulates the core values guiding the movement and outlines its strategic aims in governance and regional development.

Beyond Puig’s immediate circle, notable figures such as Ignacio Jiménez Raneda, a former president of the University of Alicante and professor emeritus of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis, and Antonio Escudero, professor emeritus of Economic History at the UA, are part of the initiative. The platform also includes Begoña Martínez Deltell, a gallery owner and member of the Valencian Cultural Council; Lola Mollá, former director of the Jorge Juan de Alicante Institute and former PSPV deputy in the Valencian Parliament; Miguel Ors Karadağ, director at the Pedro Ibarra center under the presidency of GNA; Javier Cabo, former general secretary of the UGT in Alicante; Óscar Estrada, a psychologist who directs Casa de las Américas in Alicante; Maribel Penalver, a UA professor; Sol Pérez, a ceramic sculptor; and businessman José Orts, among others.
A group of independents from Alicante promote a support platform for Puig
The platform operates with the collaboration of several PSPV militants, including historian Emilio Soler and Laura Soler, the current district deputy in the Cortes. Since its inception, the group has stressed its independence, positioning itself as an external network of supporters raising awareness about Puig and his policy vision. As Soler and Soler explain, the aim is to unify the Valencian community and bring attention to policy initiatives across social, economic, and business sectors, highlighting Puig’s perceived ability to connect diverse regions and drive inclusive growth.

The non-governmental organization behind the platform began shaping its presence in the province late last year and now counts more than fifty active collaborators. The initiative advocates continuity in regional governance through Botànic-aligned governance and signals a commitment to regional elections as a pivotal step. Weekly strategy meetings have been held during the past month, with the official presentation scheduled for the upcoming Saturday marking another milestone for the campaign and its supporters.
