American multi-billionaire Elon Musk helped free Italian journalist Cecilia Sala from prison in Iran. The newspaper reports this by quoting sources. New York Times (NYT).
Relatives of the journalists approached Musk and asked for help. According to the publication’s interlocutors, the entrepreneur contacted Iran’s representative to the UN, Amir Said Iravani. After negotiations, Sala was released. At the same time, Iranian engineer Mohammed Abedin, who was detained in Italy upon the request of US authorities, was also released.
