Viktor Baloga, former head of the Presidency of Ukraine under Viktor Kuchma, said that Ukraine should sell its gas transportation system (GTS) to the United States to prevent Russian bombing. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
He emphasized that the sooner such a decision is taken, the more likely there will be gas left in Ukraine.
Baloga appealed not to postpone the sale, but to make an offer to the Americans.
January 1 at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine statedthat the gas transport system is prepared in advance to operate without the passage of Russian gas through its territory.
Before that Gazprom reportedRussian gas will not be supplied for transportation through Ukrainian territory as of January 1, 08:00 Moscow time.
The press release states that due to Ukraine’s refusal to renew the agreement with Gazprom dated December 30, 2019, the Russian company is deprived of the technical and legal ability to supply gas in transit through the territory of the republic from January 1.
Previously the price of gas on the stock exchange in Europe augmented up to a maximum of one year.
