At least around PLN 700 thousand was transferred by some local governments to the account of the foundation responsible for organizing the Campus Poland of the Future event – Interia reports. According to the website, the amount may be even higher because not all cities responded to the editors’ questions. The event, initiated by Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, is controversial because – although the capital’s mayor and politicians from the Civic Coalition involved in the project claim that it is not a political or party event – among the speakers are representatives of the current governing coalition, a large group of ministers and even the Prime Minister himself.
When the parties that form the current parliamentary majority, in particular the Civic Coalition, put pressure in the media on the National Electoral Commission to withdraw funding for Law and Justice, PiS began to pay attention to, among other things: to fund the Poles of the Future Campus.
As Campus Polska we have not touched a cent of public money. From the government, political funds, we have not touched such money. Of course there were sponsors, there were supporters, there were local governments that showed their activities. It is all public
– Barbara Nowacka, Minister of National Education, said last week on Polsat News.
700 thousand PLN from local authorities
The point is that local governments earn their living from taxes paid by city residents. The Interia portal found that at least around 700 thousand PLN was transferred from local governments to the account of the foundation that organizes Campus Poland of the Future.
The board of the foundation, established in 2022, consists of: Michał Marcinkiewicz and Michał Ranceewicz.
In the past, he was a member of parliament from the Civic Platform and head of the political cabinet of Radosław Sikorski, and in the last presidential elections he worked on the election staff of Trzaskowski. The chairman of the Campus Polska foundation, in turn, is Marcin Wypchło – a long-time organizer of Szczecin youth festivals, seen as the man of Sławomir Nitras, the current Minister of Sports and a long-time PO politician.
– we read on the website.
In recent weeks, representatives of the foundation have sent cooperation proposals to town halls and commissioners.
Local governments had to pay PLN 15,000 for the basic promotional package. zloty. In return, the organizers offered, among other things, the following: to give a certain local government the title of event partner, to place a logo on the Campus Polska website, to inform participants that a certain local government is a partner of the event
– emphasizes Interia.
Who and how much contributed to Campus?
The event website lists 26 cities and voivodeships as partners. Three entities dependent on local governments are also listed.
These are the Upper Silesian-Zagłębiowska Metropolis, the Lubuskie Tricity and the Silesian Tourist Organization
– emphasizes the Interia journalist, adding that the editorial staff has contacted everyone and twenty entities have responded to the questions.
300 thousand the foundation received PLN from the province. Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 100 thousand from Olsztyn.
45 thousand PLN was transferred to the Opole Voivodeship, 40 thousand PLN to the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, 30 thousand PLN to the Silesian Voivodeship. 25 thousand PLN – Kraków, then 20 thousand PLN – the West Pomeranian and Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship.
After 15 thousand PLN was transferred to the account of the organizer of Campus Polska Przyszłości from the province. Podlasie, Pomerania, as well as the cities of Toruń, Sosnowiec, Radom and Katowice, the same amount was paid by the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie metropolis.
10 thousand PLN – Bydgoszcz, 8.6 thousand PLN – Płock, 5 thousand PLN – Lublin.
Cities such as Gdańsk, Wrocław, Łódź, Rzeszów, as well as the Masovian Voivodeship, the Lubusz Voivodeship and the Lubuskie Tricity did not respond to the questions. Representatives of individual local governments claimed that these were promotional agreements and that the aim was to promote cities and voivodeships.
In local governments that support Campus, power is usually exercised by local government officials from the parties that currently form the parliamentary majority. And all this so that these “good” local government officials could show how well they manage their cities, the ministers of Tusk’s government and the prime minister himself could rejoice in their victory, Rafał Trzaskowski, Barbara Nowacka and Sławomir Nitras could parade on stage dressed as teenagers, and the young council members – go to “J… PiS”. And the residents – including PiS voters – pay for everything.
