“I think that if any of the Polish institutions decide to go to the Council of Europe, they will have the opportunity to respond to all these serious accusations,” Marcin Romanowski said on TV in Poland.
The former Deputy Minister of Justice commented on the words of the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, who said at a press conference:
There is no possibility at this time to withdraw Mr Romanowski’s delegation.
Romanowski assessed the actions of the prosecutor’s office, Adam Bodnar and Szymon Hołownia against him as “embarrassing”.
It is sad to say, but this is a complete disgrace to the prosecutor’s office, the Minister of Justice and the Speaker of the Sejm. These people behave as if they exist in an alternative reality. As for questioning immunity, they were about twenty years too late, because that was when these rules were drawn up. (…) Then we had to protest, together with Russia. (…) When it comes to dismissal from a delegation, the Marshal himself admitted that such a procedure does not exist. Because if it did, a first-year law student would be aware that this is a fairly simple way to circumvent immunity. (…) Perhaps the Marshal’s advisers have not yet informed him about it

In this case, the Marshal said one thing that was important: “To avoid the impression that it is not a political issue.” But this impression is there and is confirmed almost every week. I also correspond with the Council of Europe. I hate to say it, but every week provides material for such communication. Last week, for example, an attempt to influence the jury regarding the complaint. Even lawyers who are completely on the other side of the political and ideological barricades admit that this case in itself is sufficient reason for him to win the case before the ECtHR.

The MP of Sovereign Poland also spoke about political revenge against him.
All these political actions with the character of political revenge or political persecution, for example, the brutal and illegal replacement of the management of the district court or the resignation of the vice-president of the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court, also fall within the scope of this case.
