Japan says Ukraine could be divided into three parts 03:23

Kazuhiko Togo, former head of the European and Asian Department of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Ukraine could be divided into three parts if peace talks are not held. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the former diplomat, such a scenario is possible due to the refusal of the United States and Britain to negotiate with the Russian Federation on Ukraine.

“In the next three months, Russia can go as far as it can go, take as much as it can take, and make sure Ukraine doesn’t rise again under a Biden, Harris or Trump administration,” he said.

According to Togo, Ukraine could be divided into three parts: the eastern part would go to the Russian Federation, the western part to Western Europe, and “there would be a small Ukraine with Kiev in the middle.”

According to him, Ukraine and Western countries should not ignore the peace proposals made by Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-June. The former diplomat noted that these proposals are already tougher than those the Russian president mentioned in his interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

“Putin is making these peace offers, but Biden and Zelensky are saying that there is nothing to discuss, that Ukraine’s goal is the 1991 borders. This is ridiculous, because Ukraine itself has abandoned the Istanbul Agreements, which almost achieved this,” Togo continued.

Moscow’s peace proposals should be taken seriously, he said. The former diplomat believes there is now a chance to start peace talks.

“If it comes to the division of Ukraine into three parts, then the current situation and conditions will seem like a sweet dream, a dream,” he added.

This week, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak statedHe said his country would only accept a ceasefire if the “occupied” territories were returned.

Medvedev earlier named There are two paths Ukraine could follow.
