In the final, American basketball players defeated the French national team with a score of 98:87 (20:15, 29:26, 23:25, 26:21). The most productive player of the match was Frenchman Victor Vembanyama, who scored 26 points. The top scorer of the United States team was Stephen Curry with 24 points.
At the previous Olympics in Tokyo, the Americans also defeated the French in the final. In total, Team USA has won the Olympic gold medal 17 times.
