Celebrity Filip Chajzer decided to share his reflection on neoTVP about the way the Polish state cares about the Warsaw rebels, or rather, according to him, it doesn’t care. “For several years now, the Polish state has been adequately caring for the Warsaw rebels, including in the social sphere. Not only in my opinion, but also in the conviction of many rebels with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking over the past few years,” says Jan Józef Kasprzyk, former head of the Office for Veterans and Victims of Repression, in an interview with wPolityce. .pl. Our interlocutor, as he wrote earlier on the X platform, would expect the current management of UdSKiOR to respond to Chajzer’s words on TVP.
In the program “Dangerous Liaisons” on neoTVP, Grzegorz Nawrocki and his guests tried to answer the question of what it means to be a patriot today. One of these guests was Filip Chajzer, a celebrity who, on the one hand, is known for his charitable activities, including helping the Warsaw uprising in large part, and on the other hand – his activities have recently been controversial, to say the least. . His foundation was accused of not paying out funds from collections. The former TVN breakfast presenter once caused a scandal with his behavior in a program about panic attacks, and recently Chajzer decided to star in the so-called bizarre fight. Is a person who causes so much controversy really a suitable guest for public television, especially when such a serious topic is being discussed?
Chajzer on the situation of the insurgents in Warsaw
What Filip Chajzer said in the program is also surprising.
All the conversations in the program that I just watched, because I am in a studio in Gdańsk and I am very focused on it, are very purely theoretical. I noticed that we changed the word “patriotism” in every possible way. Meanwhile, I am missing one more perspective: a perspective on how the Warsaw rebels live today. In Warsaw alone, there are only a few hundred people. Did anyone bother to ask if there is care? The labor market is very difficult today and care providers for people over 90 are really expensive. Did anyone ask how much the pensions of the rebels are today?
– He asked.
I asked myself this question in 2016, when I was walking down the street and saw an announcement, a card with the Warsaw Uprising asking for help in beautiful calligraphy. She gave her address and phone number, wrote that she had no electricity and that STOEN wanted to cut off her electricity. It cannot be that in a country where we change patriotism in all cases, we do not ask ourselves a simple question: what happens to people who did not talk, but simply took a gun in their hands?
– he continued.
Kasprzyk: The Warsaw rebels have been under special care of the state for several years
We contacted the former head of the Office for Veterans and Victims of Repression, Jan Józef Kasprzyk, to talk in more detail about the assistance he provided to the rebels, at least in recent years.
The Warsaw rebels, heroes of our freedom, have been under the special care of the Polish state for several years. Especially in recent years, the help – also in terms of their daily lives and functioning – has been and continues to be enormous
– says the interlocutor from wPolityce.pl.
As veterans of the struggle for independence, the Warsaw rebels receive special veterans’ benefits. In particularly difficult situations, they also have the opportunity to apply for financial support from the UDsKiOR. The resources for this aid have also been significantly increased in recent years
– Kasprzyk emphasizes.
Suffice it to say that when I came to the Bureau in 2015, after the first PO-PSL government, the budget for this purpose was only PLN 8 million per year. However, when I handed over the office to my successor, it was already PLN 130 million per year for direct assistance to veterans, fighters, including the Warsaw rebels.
– he adds.
I would also like to remind you of two extremely important things: by the decision of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, all veterans of the struggle for independence, including the Warsaw insurgents, received special pensions in the autumn of 2023, paid by the Chancellery of Independence. Prime Minister. These are lifelong, monthly indexed benefits that supplement existing pensions. They are awarded to every Warsaw insurgent, regardless of their income
– says the former head of the Office for Veterans and Victims of Oppression.
Our great success in recent years was caring for the Warsaw residents who were expelled from Warsaw by the Germans and ended up in the Dulag 121 transit camp in Pruszków. For many years they had no rights, but thanks to the efforts of the United Right government, three years ago they managed to equalize their rights with those of others who were oppressed by the Germans during the Second World War. Both the Warsaw rebels and other veterans of the struggle for independence in recent years have received appropriate support from the Polish government and are under the protection of the state. Of course, we appreciate all initiatives from the social side to help the rebels even better. But to say, as Filip Chajzer did, that they are on the verge of poverty and that special fundraising is needed is simply not true.
– emphasizes the wPolityce.pl interlocutor.
Will the new UDsKiOR authorities speak out?
Jan Józef Kasprzyk previously addressed his successor at UDsKiOR, Lech Parella, on the X-platform.
Perhaps the Office for Veterans and Victims of Repression and its new head can speak out about this nonsense being uttered on the “public” TVP channel? The rebels have been very well cared for by the Polish state for years. Will you take a stand?
Also in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal, Kasprzyk pointed out that the current authorities should speak out on this issue.
However, I think that the current government should speak out on this issue and stick to what I said: that the Polish state has been providing adequate shelter to the Warsaw rebels for several years, including socially. Not only in my opinion, but also in the conviction of many rebels with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking in recent years.
– he concluded.
