There is ongoing discussion about maintaining the number of deputies in Warsaw and strengthening the party’s presence in the Senate. This stance was echoed by Małgorzata Gosiewska, the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, who has moved from the second position on the PiS list in the capital to a role of influence. The leader of PiS in Warsaw, Jarosław Krajewski, expressed the belief that the Warsaw result could help propel the party’s nationwide performance.

On Saturday, Law and Justice submitted its full slate to the Sejm for every constituency. The Warsaw lineup is headed by the Minister of Culture, Piotr Gliński; the second slot is held by the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Małgorzata Gosiewska; the third is assigned to Paweł Wdówik, the Government’s Plenipotentiary for the Disabled; the fourth to MP Paweł Lisiecki; and the fifth to the head of the Warsaw party organization, Jarosław Krajewski.

“A woman who is not afraid of anything”

Gosiewska was introduced by the Warsaw list leader as a person who is fearless in the face of challenges.

In a conversation regarding the party’s Warsaw slate, Gosiewska described it as exceptionally strong. “The list features candidates with expertise across diverse fields and from different parts of Warsaw. Anyone looking to support Law and Justice will find a candidate who resonates with them on our roster,” she stated.

Her message reflected satisfaction with her placement on the list. She remarked, “I am pleased to be part of this team. I am grateful to Prime Minister Gliński for presenting my work in a concise, sharp way that captures my readiness to tackle difficult tasks, including areas where conflicts are real and not merely political rhetoric.”

Gosiewska emphasized the seriousness of these commitments in the context of national elections and local concerns.

In the 2019 elections, Law and Justice secured six parliamentary seats in Warsaw but did not win a Senate seat.

When asked about the expected outcome for the party in the capital, Gosiewska responded: “The aim is to preserve the parliamentary balance. Naturally, we will strive for Senate gains as well. We are mindful of local government elections, which is why our representatives at the local level appear on the lists.”

She added that the involvement of local officials should contribute to the best possible result for Warsaw and could help secure victory in local government elections, noting that everything depends on the confidence of Warsaw residents. She expressed faith that this trust exists.

Strong names

Jarosław Krajewski, the PiS leader in Warsaw and a candidate from the fifth position, highlighted the strength of the Warsaw slate in a discussion with the agency. He recalled the last election, when the party enjoyed the support of more than 370,000 voters in the city district and more than 300,000 votes within Warsaw itself, underscoring the potential for nationwide impact.

“We expect that, as Law and Justice, we will contribute to victory across the country, including in the Warsaw district,” he stated. When asked about replicating the 2019 results, Krajewski replied that the focus is on the strong backing of Warsaw residents and Poles voting from abroad as well.

He also pointed to the Senate candidates from the party, including local government officials Wojciech Zabłocki, Alicja Żebrowska and Michał Grodzki, along with road transport security expert Alvin Gajadhur. The candidates reflect a team deeply familiar with Warsaw, and many have long-standing involvement with the city’s governance. Krajewski noted that such familiarity, paired with the support of party representatives who are well versed in municipal issues, strengthens the ticket against opposition contenders from other parties.

“These candidates bring firsthand experience with city administration and security matters. They are known for their commitment to Warsaw and its residents,” he said. He added that the combination of local government veterans and a security professional creates a formidable team capable of earning every possible vote in the capital. The aim is to demonstrate what PiS has achieved for Warsaw’s residents and to show a clear path forward for the city’s governance.

The discussion also touched on the strategy for the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of mobilizing support from a broad base of Warsaw’s citizens and communicating the party’s track record of public service and practical outcomes.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled for October 15, with Poland set to elect 460 deputies and 100 senators for four-year terms.
