““We intend to introduce the so-called widow’s pension, i.e. the possibility of taking over the pension of a deceased spouse, at least part of it. This will allow all those who find themselves in such a situation to survive the most difficult moments,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said after the government meeting.
Thanks to the work of our ministers, we managed to reach a common position on the widow’s pension. We agreed that we would work in the Sejm and vote on this project together
– said Donald Tusk.
“Help is needed for widows and widowers
The death of a loved one is associated with the dramatic situation of the other. In the saddest cases, it is also a financial drama. The widow’s pension will not compensate for the loss, but it will enable those who find themselves in such a situation to survive
– be at the head of the government.
When it comes to the constitutionality of our actions, especially in the legal system, Minister Bodnar is the witness here. I have complete confidence in him
– said the Prime Minister.
The citizen project on the introduction of a widow’s pension was created on the initiative of more than twenty organizations, including the All-Polish Trade Union Agreement, and with the participation of the left. It concerns the amendment of the Social Insurance Fund Pensions and Disability Pensions Act and certain other laws. More than 200,000 people signed this solution. citizens.
The bill proposes that a widow could retain his or her benefit and increase it by 50 percent of the deceased spouse’s survivor’s benefit, or collect the deceased spouse’s survivor’s benefit and 50 percent of his or her benefit.
Currently, in the case of simultaneous rights to multiple pensions and disability benefits, the principle of payment of one benefit applies. Therefore, a widow can retain his or her pension after the death of a spouse or resign from it and opt for a survivor’s pension after the death.
The case of Marcin Romanowski
The head of government also referred to the issue of immunity of PiS MP Marcin Romanowski. While presenting his political message, the PO leader assured that he would not question the court’s decision.
Immunity is granted to a member or alternate member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council on the way to and during the meeting and in connection with activities in the Assembly. None of these conditions apply to Mr Romanowski. I consider the claim for immunity to be a mistake, but I will not question the decision of the court
– said Donald Tusk.
