In 2025, the maintenance of the Sejm will cost taxpayers PLN 849.6 million. This amount was included in the draft budget of the Chancellery of the Sejm, obtained by “Rzeczpospolita”, prepared by the services subordinate to Marshal Szymon Hołownia (PL2050-TD).
“Rzeczpospolita reported that maintaining the Sejm will cost taxpayers PLN 849.6 million in 2025. As the newspaper noted, maintaining the House of Representatives and its members has never cost so much.
It was recalled that before PiS came to power, the agency’s budget did not exceed half a billion. In 2023, it already amounted to PLN 683.2 million, and this year – PLN 765.3 million. Next year, these costs are expected to increase by another PLN 84.3 million.

The draft shows that some reasons are beyond the control of the Sejm. For example, the law firm wants to implement the 4.1% salary increase planned for the entire budget, which – as ‘Rz’ noted – is not in fact a salary increase, but a salary adjustment adjusted for inflation.
The salary increase does not apply to MPs, but the law firm wants to increase it by 4.1%. expenses for running offices of clubs and groups in the Sejm, as well as lump sums for offices that MPs create in the so-called area. This makes it possible to increase the salaries of people working there. The law firm also wants each club to receive money to hire a new employee who will be responsible for assessing the impact of draft laws, the preparation of which is required by the current amendment to the Sejm regulations.
Another reason for increasing the budget is the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2025. The law firm estimated that this will cost PLN 8.3 million. Moreover, the expenditure on the so-called current costs will increase by as much as PLN 25.3 million, or 23.4 percent, and in this paragraph the law firm wrote, among other things: continuation of the renovation of building facades for PLN 12.3 million.
Another item with a significant increase is the purchase of equipment for the Marshal’s Guard for almost PLN 1.2 million, or 37% more than in the current year. For this money, the law firm wants to buy, among other things: weapons and ammunition, digital radios, tasers with cartridges and direct coercive measures.
Purchase of cars
For next year, the law firm also plans, among other things: the purchase of cars for PLN 2.1 million, including a bus, and the allocation of PLN 6.5 million for the construction of a building for biochemical control of shipments. The law firm also emphasizes that important systems will be implemented next year, for example, electronic document management.
I wonder how the December 13 coalition and Marshal Szymon Hołownia will explain themselves to the voters? Or maybe they don’t plan to do that at all? After all, the record has already been broken in terms of the number of members of the government and they don’t care.
