Robert Hernand, the legal deputy of the Attorney General, revealed in an interview with Telewizja wPoland that Adam Bodnar gave him four months to inspect more than 50,000 procedures in the field of environmental protection. This is a completely different field than what Hernand has been working on for years, as an expert in the field of complex competence and constitutional issues. Hernand also reveals that the joint initiative of independent associations of judges, prosecutors and lawyers aims to spread knowledge about the extent of the violations of the rule of law by the December 13 coalition.

We want to show that the situation in the country when it comes to compliance with the law is very dangerous. We have several examples of clear violations of the law, so lawyers decided to work together and prepare a report on these violations. We are aware of the takeover of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office and the removal of prosecutors from preparatory proceedings, which are so important not only from the point of view of the Public Prosecution Service, but also from the perspective of society. We care about the well-being of citizens and parties in the procedure. Their interests are in danger. (…).
– said public prosecutor Robert Hernand about Telewizja wPoland.
Prosecutor Hernand was also asked about the words of Judge Igor Tuleya, who suggested that it is not necessary to apply all legal provisions during the transition period.
It’s hard to even comment on it. After all, the legal system cannot be replaced by a resolution or the ‘will’ of the majority. The legal system must be coherent and work. I don’t remember the transition period after 1989. The officers and judges ruled without any verification. So where is the transition period after judicial appointments were approved by the Council of State during the time of the Polish People’s Republic? Judge Tuleya confused some periods

Bodnar’s revenge?
Journalists from Telewizja from Poland asked the legal deputy of the Attorney General what tasks Adam Bodnar had assigned to him. It turns out that an excellent specialist in constitutional issues is currently involved in the verification of tens of thousands of procedures related to… environmental protection.
My job is to investigate 53,000 environmental protection cases in a team of three. This is an almost impossible task. (…). I understand that this case may be interesting for the Attorney General, but if we have a time frame from 2016 (Prosecutor Hernand has four months to complete the task – ed.) to 2023, I would investigate the one-year procedure , because these procedures are repetitive. 53 thousand in such a long period? I informed the Attorney General twice that this task was impossible. (…). Still, I try to do them
– said prosecutor Robert Hernand.
