German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Russia was “not as strong as it seems” and that Vladimir Putin should not hope that the West will weaken its support for Ukraine. He reportedly made the relevant statements ahead of the EU leaders’ summit Tagesschau.
In his speech, Scholz assured that Germany was determined to support Ukraine for as long as necessary and reminded that Kiev should be provided with more weapons. He stressed that “an imposed peace that is contrary to Ukraine’s interests” is unacceptable.
“Russia is not as strong as some people think… And if the Russian President thinks that he just has to wait and our support will weaken, then he has miscalculated,” Scholz said.
Earlier, one of French President Emmanuel Macron’s unnamed advisors ridiculed the policies of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and said: statedHe said that when Russian President Vladimir Putin “coughed” the head of the German Council of Ministers quickly began “looking for shelter”.
Before that Scholz named The piece on Putin’s chessboard.
Previously Scholz said he was waiting for the right moment to negotiate with Putin.
