London recognizes the Armenian authorities’ decision to freeze CSTO membership and is ready to provide support to Yerevan in the face of “threats from Russia.” This was stated by the British Deputy Minister of Defense James Hippie, whose words were quoted by the TV channel. RT.
“The UK regards this decision as an exercise of Armenia’s sovereign right and will work with its Euro-Atlantic allies to support it in the face of the threat of Russian retaliation,” the deputy minister said.
Hippie emphasized that kingdom officials will continue to work closely with Armenia to deepen cooperation.
As Vladimir Olenchenko, an employee of the IMEMO RAS Center for European Studies, explained in an interview with the TV channel, Western countries want to “drag” Armenia into European structures.
“The USA is interested in Armenia as an element that disturbs Russia. In this context, they instruct someone to voice their strategy – in this case, Great Britain,” Olenchenko said.
