I have arranged an agricultural summit for Thursday at the Dialogue Center in Warsaw; I will meet the leaders of all protest groups, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Wednesday. He added that the first tranche of the KPO money should be paid to farmers in the coming days, perhaps even tomorrow; that is 6 billion euros.
Donald Tusk was asked about specific solutions during a joint conference with the Head of the Government of the Kingdom of Norway, Jonas Gahr Store in Warsaw, on Friday during a meeting with farmer representatives. He also referred to the fact that NSZZ “Solidarity” plans to join the farmers’ protest on March 6, but an arrogant tone is palpable from the beginning of his answer.
I have the impression that agricultural ‘Solidarity’ has been active in these protests from the beginning and therefore does not need to join. I think she was always present at all the protests
– said the head of government mockingly, adding: “it’s nothing new.”
Moreover, he placed the responsibility for finding favorable solutions for Polish farmers on them. Tusk said it was important to him that “partners on the proofreader side talk about specific solutions to get rid of this highest level of slogans.”
He also accused them of using certain slogans during the protests. He insinuated that farmers are calling on Poland to leave the European Union. His fellow party members once accused PiS politicians of something similar, namely plans to lead our country to “Polexit”. Is the Prime Minister afraid of the opinion of a large section of society that his government is failing to find solutions for the farmers?
Lately there have been slogans that Poland should leave the European Union – for example during the demonstration in Warsaw – or that it should completely close the border with Ukraine. I am not the Prime Minister who will ensure that Poland leaves the EU or becomes a border-blocking country
– said the Prime Minister.
Agriculture Summit
Tusk announced that he would convene an agricultural summit at the Warsaw Dialogue Center.
I will meet the leaders of all protesting groups
– he inquired.
At the same time, he announced that the funds released from the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO), the so-called The Recovery and Resilience Facility, are intended to serve Polish farmers and food producers.
The first tranche to be paid – perhaps even tomorrow, certainly in the coming days – amounts to 6 billion euros, but almost 1.5 billion euros should go to small food producers in Poland, small businesses and farms.
- said the head of government.
