Russian President Vladimir Putin has no plans to visit Turkey anytime soon. This was stated by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov during a briefing.

On February 26, Putin had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and congratulated him on his 70th birthday. Journalists asked Peskov whether Putin planned to visit Turkey before the elections in Russia.

“There is no time before the elections, the pre-election calendar is tight, contact preparations are being made at the highest level, these contacts will take place, but they will take place at the time that best suits the presidents’ calendar,” he said.

Before that, President Erdoğan appreciated Putin’s words on the status of negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. He said Putin was sincere when talking about the Istanbul talks on the situation in Ukraine.
