“This is a question for a fortune teller” – this is how Jan Grabiec responded on Radio ZET to a question about Donald Tusk’s promise to lower gasoline prices. On December 13, the coalition politician stated that “it is pathetic that President Obajtek is still the president.”
Tusk’s promises about PLN 5 gasoline
One of the listeners remembered the words of Donald Tusk: “One simple decision is enough, and gasoline costs 5 PLN. If I were the Prime Minister, gasoline would cost 5.19”. In this context, he wanted to know when Tusk “will find time to make this one simple decision.”
I’ll probably be told in response that President Obajtek is still the president? If so, it will be pathetic
– noted the listener.
What did Jan Grabiec have to say?
It’s sad that President Obajtek is still the president, but these are the rules we have
– Grabiec replied, confirming the selective approach of Tusk’s team to the applicable law, which in the case of public media and the public prosecutor’s office seems to have no meaning for the government.
Orlen increases prices?
In that situation, according to our economic calculations, gasoline should have cost that much. And today we must do everything we can to prevent large companies, with the participation of the Ministry of Finance, from using their monopoly position to raise prices and, on the other hand, spend the money on party and political purposes – as was the case in Orlen.
– said Jan Grabiec, adding that the government will take action to ensure that “the costs that push down gasoline prices are eliminated. Costs that arise from political decisions, not from the company’s strategy.
Has he forgotten that such a political decision was made by Dariusz Klimczak of PSL, shortly after taking office as Minister of Infrastructure? It was he who decided to increase fuel costs for 2024.
When asked when we can expect gasoline prices to be between 5 and 6 PLN, Grabiec just laughed.
This is a question for a fortune teller
– he declared.
When the interviewer pointed out that “the Prime Minister is not a fortune teller, but he promised it,” Grabiec responded that “at that moment we were talking about a specific level of oil prices on world markets, a specific level of taxes.”
We saw this later after the excess profits that Orlen made, and for this reason we passed a bill that would return these excess profits to the budget. So that the money can be returned to the Poles who paid too much for gasoline, so that they can at least reduce their taxes
– said the minister from Tusk’s office.
Lowering fuel prices is another promise that Tusk’s government is backtracking on.
