Nepalese authorities have banned the issuance of work permits to their citizens in Russia and Ukraine due to cases of recruitment to participate in armed conflicts. This was reported by Himalaya Times.
Nepal’s Ministry of Labor noted that there is evidence of the country’s citizens participating in conflicts that resulted negatively for them. Some were caught.
Kabiraj Upreti, Director of the Foreign Employment Department, said that the issuance of work permits in Russia and Ukraine has been suspended until further steps are taken.
On December 6, Nepal police reportedly detained 10 citizens of the country who, according to security officials, were recruiting people for the Russian army. It was recorded that the 10 detained people received 9 thousand dollars from unemployed young people under the pretext of selling tourist visas, and then sent the young people to Russia via the UAE and recruited them for military service there.
