The leader of Poland 2050, Chairman of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia (54%), once again enjoys the greatest confidence. In second place was President Andrzej Duda (51%). Third place was taken by the President of PSL, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz (47%), according to the December CBOS survey.
In December, on the eve of the swearing-in of the new government, respondents were most suspicious of PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński (55% of distrust) and the leader of sovereign Poland Zbigniew Ziobro (55% of distrust) . Third place in this negative classification went to the new Prime Minister and leader of the ruling coalition – Donald Tusk (49 percent distrust).
As CBOS highlights, following the changes recorded in November, compared to the pre-election period, not much has changed at the top of the social trust rankings in the following weeks.
Who do the Poles trust?
The chairman of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, still enjoys the utmost confidence. 54% trust him. Among respondents, 28% express distrust towards him. respondents. There was an increase in trust by 2 percentage points and distrust by 1 percentage point.
The second place in the ranking is occupied by President Andrzej Duda, the confidence of 51%. respondents – the same number as in November. At the same time, there was a large percentage of respondents who expressed distrust towards the head of state: 39%. (increase by 1 point).
Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia and President Andrzej Duda are the only politicians currently trusted by at least half of Poles.
In third place in the ranking, with the trust of almost half of respondents, is the head of PSL, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiak-Kamysz (47 percent positive responses). After a very large jump in ratings last month, the PSL-TD leader’s ratings turned out to be slightly weaker in December. There was a minimal decrease in the number of respondents who stated that they had confidence (a decrease of 1 percentage point), but the percentage of respondents with a negative attitude towards him increased more sharply (an increase in distrust of 4 percentage points). However, the percentage of respondents who trust him is almost twice as high as the number of respondents who do not trust him (47% indicate that they have confidence, compared to 25% – distrust).
Fourth place in the December CBOS rankings went to Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, who is trusted by 46 percent. respondents (increase by 1 percentage point); 39% do not trust the deputy head of PO. respondents (increase by 2 percentage points).
The top five politicians most trusted by society are concluded by former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki (PiS), with a slightly better result than in November. 42% of people have confidence in the former prime minister. respondents (an increase of 2 percentage points), 48% do not trust him. respondents (decrease of 3 percentage points).
More places
The next place in the ranking went to current Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who was sworn into this office after conducting the investigation. After a significant improvement in viewing figures in November, a slight decline in the current government leader’s viewing figures was observed in December. This month, 38 percent declared confidence in Tusk. among respondents, 2 percentage points less than in November, while at the same time the number of respondents who do not trust him has increased slightly (by 3 percentage points to 49%).
36 percent of respondents express their confidence in PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński (increase by 3 percentage points). However, the PiS president’s ratings are invariably dominated by negative comments: 55 percent do not trust him. respondents (decrease by 1 percentage point).
Trust in other politicians from the December survey no longer reaches a third of respondents.
Each 32 percent Declarations of Confidence were collected by the Chairman of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska (33% of declarations of no confidence), the Leader of the Left, Deputy Chairman of the Sejm Włodzimierz Tsarzasty (30% of declarations of no confidence) and the leader of the WiN Confederation, Krzysztof Bosak, makes his debut as deputy chairman of the Sejm (36% of declarations of no confidence).
The next places in the December rankings were occupied by KO politicians currently serving as heads of ministries: the Minister of State Assets, Borys Budka, and the new Minister of Education, Barbara Nowacka. 30% of people trust Budka. among respondents, more people do not trust him – 38 percent Nowacka is much less known than Borys Budka, but also much better appreciated. 29% trust her. respondents and 19 percent he does not trust her. However, for 38 percent of respondents, Nowacka remains an unknown person.
29 percent Zbigniew Ziobro, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, leader of Sovereign Poland, received a vote of confidence in December. In December, confidence in Ziobro fell by 3 percentage points compared to the November measurement. At the same time, the percentage of respondents expressing distrust towards him remained at its current, very high level (55%).
The next place in the ranking went to the new Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Adam Bodnar, who is little known – and therefore rated by a fairly limited group of respondents. 48% do not know the former Ombudsman. subjects. However, Adam Bodnar has very good ratings among people who identify him. 26% of people trust him. of all respondents, 13% do not trust him.
The worst results
Former head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and coordinator of special services, Mariusz Kamiński, has the confidence of 24 percent. among respondents, 34% do not trust him. The head of the NBP, Adam Glapiński, is trusted by 23%, while 45% do not trust him.
22% trust the head of the audit office, Marian Banaś; 26% do not trust him. respondents.
The last positions in the rankings were occupied by the least well-known politicians included in the survey. Deputy Chairman of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL-TD) gets 19 percent. to trust; 9 percent do not trust him; 59 percent of respondents do not know this politician. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski gets 19 percent. trust and 11% do not trust him.
The President of the Constitutional Court, Julia Przyłębska, also receives the confidence of 19 percent. subjects; 35% don’t trust her. respondents.
The survey was conducted from November 28 to December 12, 2023 on a sample of 961 people (including: 56.8% using the CAPI method, 31.1% – CATI and 12.1% – CAWI). The study was conducted as part of the mixed procedure on a representative sample of adult residents of Poland drawn from the PESEL register.
Each respondent independently chose one of the methods: direct interview with the participation of an interviewer (CAPI method), telephone interview after contact with the CBOS interviewer (CATI) – the respondent received contact details in an announcement letter from CBOS, independent completion of an online interview survey (CAWI), which could be accessed based on the login and password provided to the respondent in the CBOS announcement letter.
In all three cases, the survey had the same set of questions and structure.
