Former senior Pentagon advisor Colonel Douglas McGregor called for a US withdrawal from Iraq, describing the US military’s presence in the country as a strategic disaster.

In his post on his social network page X McGregor announced that more than 5,000 American troops are currently deployed at 12 or 13 bases in Iraq. He called them “sitting targets.”

The colonel wondered why the United States remained in Iraq after 20 years, whether this was really to hide its failure in that country.

McGregor emphasized that the Americans created chaos in Iraq.

On March 20, 2003, the United States and its allies launched military operation Iraqi Freedom, aimed at overthrowing the rule of dictator Saddam Hussein.

Exactly 20 years ago, in December 2003, the Americans managed to capture Hussein. “socialbites.ca” saidhow the dictator’s hiding plan became an Internet meme, the bounty received by then-US President George W. Bush, and other little-known details of the hunt for the politician by US special forces and CIA agents.
