At the summit in Skopje, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov asked a journalist from the German publication Deutsche Welle (the organization was included in the list of foreign agents of the Ministry of Justice) not to distort his words about the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). At the press conference held after the organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, Lavrov was noted to have said that he was indifferent to the results of the summit. At the same time, a journalist from a German publication said that the Russian minister does not believe in the bright future of the organization.
Lavrov asked for his words to be quoted accurately and added that Russia respects journalists “somewhat” and therefore allows them to independently present the results of press conferences.
“I know that it is customary in Germany for government members to tell journalists what to write,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
