The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the change of citizenship of three Russian athletes without the permission of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) due to the suspension of the PRC. reports about it RIA News With a link to the IOC press service.

“During the suspension, the PRC no longer has the right to act as the national Olympic committee,” the IOC said.

On November 29, the IOC allowed cyclists Valeria Lyubimova and Mikhail Yakovlev, as well as Greco-Roman wrestler Georgy Tibilov, to change their sports citizenship. They will now play for France, Israel and Serbia respectively.

In 2022, against the background of the start of SVO in Ukraine, IOC president Thomas Bach recommended that international federations exclude Russian athletes from international competitions. On January 25, 2023, the IOC announced that it was considering allowing participants to participate in international competitions with neutral status.

The PRC’s activities were suspended on October 12, 2023.
