I believe that the law on civil partnerships will be adopted by the Sejm this term; it is a matter of agreement with the partners – the head of the Left Club, Krzysztof Gawkowski, told Polsat News. He noted that this will happen when “this bill also has a chance to pass through the president’s desk and be signed.”
On Friday, Gawkowski was asked, among other things: about when parliament will adopt the law on civil partnerships and whether its introduction will be voted on in the Sejm.
I believe so
– he answered.
Gawkowski: We will do everything we can to ensure partnerships
Asked whether it was just a matter of faith or of counting votes, he replied: “It’s a matter of agreement with the partners we were at the table with.”
We spoke to (PO leader) Donald Tusk that he would give some of his presentation, and before the presentation we did not want to say what is involved in, let’s say, the process of achieving the goal. And if you ask me whether the left will lobby for the existence of civil partnerships this term – yes, we will do everything.
– added.
I believe that civil partnerships will be voted on this term
– repeated the politician.
When asked what he based his faith on, he replied that he had spoken with the head of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia, the leader of PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the head of PO Donald Tusk.
They say directly that we must somehow complete this process within these four years. And it’s not like abortion where it was a hard ‘no’. This is not the case here
– emphasized the head of the left club. When asked how to understand the phrase “in a certain category”, he replied: “I don’t know what the final act will look like.”
My heart, as a man of the left, is clearly on the side of civil partnerships, abortion, marriage equality and the separation of state and church. It’s easy for me to say, but this coalition has four members, i.e. there are partners who think about it a little more and there are those who think about it very differently, so it also depends on convincing each other. If you ask if we will do it in four years: yes, if you ask if we will do it in a quarter: no
– said Gawkowski.
Responding to the statement that there would be the same parliamentarians these four years, he pointed out that “there is another area that we forget, regarding civil partnerships: it is called President Andrzej Duda.”
We will vote in the Sejm when this bill also has a chance to pass through the President’s desk and be signed.
– said Gawkowski.
