“Twelve million people didn’t just vote for the Third Way. The largest number voted for the Civic Coalition, and we respect the voters’ decision,” said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, when asked if he regretted not accepting President Andrzej Duda’s proposal and becoming prime minister..
Kosiniak-Kamysz “didn’t take the glove”
The head of the President’s Office, Marcin Mastalerek, said in an interview with wp.pl that “the proposals came from Polish People’s Party circles that the President should first consider the Prime Minister’s portfolio for Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. These were confidential conversations, but from different sources, right at the beginning, with PSL.
He pointed out that Kosiniak-Kamysz himself “never denied it” and “said in conversations that such a possibility existed – only it was misunderstood as an attempt to roll back the coalition.”
In turn, Mastalerek pointed out on Polsat News that Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz “is a man who did not take up the challenge.”
Business more important than ambition?
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz was asked about the proposal to take over the Prime Minister’s portfolio at RMF FM radio.
Minister Mastalerek’s concern is endearing. I didn’t become Prime Minister because I told voters one thing and voters voted for something else
– said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
On the one hand, there is the ambition of every political leader to become prime minister. On the other hand, there is something much more important: where the interest of the state, of Poland, begins and self-interest and politics end. Twelve million people didn’t just vote for the Third Way. The largest number voted for the Civic Coalition, and we respect the voters’ decision. The voters’ decision was clear: remove PiS from power
– the head of PSL tried to explain, adding that “it may be unnatural in politics, but I keep my commitments.”
