It seems that it is about investigating the financial situation of “one citizen”, said Jarosław Sellin (PiS), referring to the project aimed at revealing the assets of politicians’ spouses. According to Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz (KO), it is necessary to show that those in power have nothing to hide.
Radio Zet’s guests on Sunday included: Minister in the KPRP Małgorzata Paprocka, Jarosław Sellin (PiS), Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz (KO).
Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz, when asked about the amendment to the law submitted by KO, which aims to make public the assets of politicians’ spouses, replied that it is necessary to break with the government’s pathologies.
We must show that those in power have nothing to hide and that every MP, Senator, Senator, Minister and Prime Minister will make their assets public, including their spouses.
– she said.
The MP ruled that the adoption of the amendment to the law was in the interest of the entire political class.
After eight years of PiS rule, we need to rebuild trust. This law is one of the parts of this plan
– she added.
She referred to the fortune of Prime Minister Morawiecki’s wife, Iwona Morawiecka.
If someone were to buy a piece of land from a church very cheaply and later sell it for a huge profit, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t inform the public about it
– she pointed.
Will the president sign the bill?
Minister Paprocka, in turn, pointed out that providing this type of information to the public is justified if the person in question holds a public position.
When asked whether Iwona Morawiecka’s assets should be made public, she replied that the president would decide whether to sign the law as soon as he could read it.
According to Jarosław Sellin (PiS), his party will most likely not oppose the bill.
Of course, we should read it and consider whether people who don’t hold public office should be required to disclose their assets, but I think the thinking here is sound. At the same time, I would like to point out that we are dealing with the Olympic Games again. It seems that a bill is being prepared to investigate the situation of one citizen
– he said.
A draft amendment to the KO law on restricting business activities by persons exercising public functions has been published on the Sejm website.
The project concerns the introduction of the principle according to which “separate assets of spouses of the most important persons exercising public functions, i.e.: the President of the Republic of Poland, the Chairman of the Sejm, the Chairman of the Senate, the Prime Minister, the deputy chairman of the Sejm, the deputy chairman of the Senate, the deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers, a minister, as well as a municipal head, mayor, city president, members of the district and voivodeship administrations, as well as parliamentarians and senators will be subject to disclosure in the asset statement.
