We want to show the public as soon as possible what the pathological power mechanisms have looked like in recent years – said Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz (KO) on Radio Zet, referring to the plans to create three investigative committees. Jarosław Sellin (PiS) replied to the applicants that “if you cannot give bread, you organize games”
Three investigative committees
At its next session, the Sejm will discuss three draft resolutions submitted by the KO regarding the creation of three investigative committees: for the so-called envelope elections, for the so-called visa scandal and to investigate the legality, regularity and purposefulness of operational and reconnaissance activities undertaken, among other things, use of Pegasus software in the period from November 16, 2015 to November 20, 2023.
Guests of Radio Zet included: Minister in the KPRP Małgorzata Paprocka, Michał Kobosko (Poland 2050), Jarosław Sellin (PiS), Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz (KO).
Gasiuk-Pihowicz attacks the president
When asked about plans to create three investigative committees, Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz (KO) emphasized that her formation is not sure when Andrzej Duda will allow the formation of a new government.
We know from the president’s statements that this will be postponed for as long as possible. We do not want to wait and show the public as quickly as possible what the pathological power mechanisms that we have observed in recent years looked like
– she stated.
Games instead of bread
The first committee – for envelope elections – is, as she said, very well prepared.
We know who made decisions about envelope elections, who made them, and who made them
– she said.
Meanwhile, Jarosław Sellin (PiS) said that “if you can’t provide bread, you organize games.”
As we know from the coalition agreement of the emerging majority, it does not contain any specifics. Three commissions of inquiry were proposed, without any scandals behind them
– he said.
Referring to the issue of the envelope elections, he recalled that they would be held during the pandemic.
We had a political promise to hold elections. It was necessary to propose some form of implementation of these elections
– he declared.
Minister Małgorzata Paprocka responded in the same tone to this issue, pointing out that the elections ultimately did not take place.
I remember that during the pandemic there were several proposals to solve this problem. Ultimately, the elections were held in the traditional manner
– she emphasized.
Did voters want the PiS government to be held accountable?
Michał Kobosko (Poland 2050) in turn ruled that the establishment of investigative committees is necessary.
A large part of voters who voted for democratic opposition parties want our positive program, but believe it is necessary to hold the PiS government accountable.
– he said.
According to the Polish MP 2050, it is extremely important to establish a committee for envelope elections.
The idea of including the post office – in an absolutely illegal way – in the democratic process, while violating all procedures, requires publicity, reminders and explanations.
– he said.
On Wednesday evening, the press service of the Civic Coalition announced that the KO Club had submitted draft resolutions to the Sejm on the creation of investigative committees regarding the so-called visa scandal, Pegasus and the so-called envelope elections. The announcement of their appointment was made on Tuesday by the leader of the Civic Platform, Donald Tusk.
The first draft resolution submitted by the KO club concerns “the appointment of a commission of inquiry to investigate the legality, regularity and purposefulness of actions, as well as the prevention of abuses, negligence and omissions in the legalization of the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Republic of Poland in the period from January 1, 2019 to November 20, 2023
Commission of Inquiry into the So-called Envelope Elections aims to investigate the legality, correctness and purposefulness of the actions taken in preparation and implementation of the 2020 elections for the President of the Republic of Poland in the form of postal voting. The draft resolution states that the committee will in particular investigate the actions of the then members of the Council of Ministers, including Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin and persons subordinate to them. It will also be examined how instructions from government members have been implemented in this regard, in particular by the Polish Post and the Polish Security Printing House.
A draft resolution was also tabled on the appointment of an “Inquiry Commission to investigate the legality, regularity and purposefulness of operational and reconnaissance activities undertaken, among others: with the use of Pegasus software by members of the Council of Ministers, secret services, police, tax audit and customs and budgetary control authorities in the period from November 16, 2015 to November 20, 2023.”
