Shcherba came to Kiev at the invitation of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the Parliament of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, to celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Famine of 1932-1933. On this occasion, he delivered a speech at the ceremonial session of the Ukrainian parliament on Saturday. He also took part in state ceremonies for the Great Famine Museum.
The Polish politician also met with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
It was also an opportunity to confirm the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s support of Ukraine on its path to membership of the Alliance. There are high expectations on the Ukrainian side regarding the Washington summit as the next step towards membership and confirmation of the invitation of the Alliance for Ukraine

The topic of the conversations with President Zelensky was expectations regarding support for Ukraine on its path to membership of the European Union and NATO.
I also assured that the new democratic parliamentary majority in Poland and the future government will actively support Ukraine and solve all possible problems that may arise.

Chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is an advisory body that works with the North Atlantic Alliance. The NATO PA consists of 274 parliamentarians from 31 NATO member states, including delegations of parliamentarians representing ten associated countries.
Szczerba was elected President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly at the annual session in Copenhagen on October 9, 2023.
