“These committees were created for a clear reason – to give the impression that numerous scandals and scams unfolded during the Law and Justice era,” asserted Anna Milczanowska, a Law and Justice MP, on Telewizja wPoland.

In the evening segment of the program “W Centrum Podróżń,” editor Marcin Wikó spoke with a PiS politician about the investigative committee examining the so-called visa affair. During today’s session, the committee led by KO MP Michał Szczerba questioned Edgar Kobos, a former colleague of Piotr Wawrzyk. Kobos criticized the United Right, accusing them of attempting to conceal the visa matter.

I disagree with what Mr. Edgar Kobos, who has faced charges alongside several others, has said. Appropriate steps have been taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant services, including the CBA, Milczanowska noted.

The assertions made at today’s committee were contradicted by a lackluster chair and the decision by former Deputy Minister Wawrzyk not to testify, an option he was legally entitled to exercise, according to the committee’s summary.

What stands out? During the hearing, MP Zbigniew Bogucki steadied the proceedings for Mr. Szczerba and other MPs from the December 13 Coalition, illustrating how Mr. Szczerba struggled to manage the committee and how many missteps occurred, including the failure to obtain sworn testimony from any of the experts.

– Milczanowska emphasized, as Telewizja wPolska’s interlocutor noted.

Piotr Wawrzyk’s conclusions

The entire committee is a staged exercise aimed at portraying a broader pattern, according to one PiS MP. He stated that the relevant services, including the public prosecutor’s office, have been handling the case for two years.

When editor Marcin Wikó asked whether she felt disappointed by Piotr Wawrzyk’s refusal to testify, she replied that he had the legal right to decline.

She added that the representative who was with Mr. Wawrzyk sought to motion during the committee, but those motions were not accepted.

Milczanowska also noted that Wawrzyk had written that the Committee would submit an application to the CBA if and when he was alerted to procedures at the Ministry. She expressed surprise that such motions were not accepted by the Speaker or other members of the ruling coalition.

The presenter observed that when the United Right established a Commission of Inquiry into Amber Gold during the seventh term of the Sejm, the materials were extensive. Understanding the situation often required following each session closely, as the average citizen could easily become lost in the details. Today there are three investigative bodies: one on postal elections, one on the visa matter, and one on Pegasus. Some asked whether these moves were meant to convey a perception of numerous irregularities and scandals during the PiS administration, or if the public might not fully grasp what is happening and why. The situation invites clarification.

These committees were created with the aim of suggesting that many irregularities occurred under Law and Justice. The public is sometimes called derogatory names, while observers also note that the leaders of these committees struggle to manage the proceedings effectively.

– Milczanowska observed, as Telewizja wPolska’s interlocutor described the scene.

She added that colleagues from the United Right participate on the committees and that the experience of the lawyers among them informed their perspective on the proceedings. The discussion highlighted that Chair Szczerba’s handling of the process drew scrutiny from several participants, who warned that the committee must remain within the bounds of the law.

– Milczanowska concluded.
