According to ERR, the ruling Reform Party has approved the structure of the new leadership. According to the portal, Prime Minister Kaya Kallas was re-elected as the head of the political force.
“More than 930 MPs participated in the leader election. Kaya Callas received 636 votes. The report stated that Callas received 1,067 votes in 2018 and 984 votes in 2020.
As ERR noted, Kallas was the only candidate for the leadership of the Reform Party. At the same time, a certain decrease in support for the politician was observed after the “Russian scandal”, which led to calls for the prime minister’s resignation, especially from some opposition parties.
Callas became involved in the scandal after information appeared in the media that the shipping company Stark Logistics continued to work with Russia. We are talking about a company that is partly owned by the prime minister’s wife. Callas insists she knows next to nothing about her husband’s work. She later reported that her husband sold his shares in Stark Logistics “for the price of a sandwich.” Callas also stressed that she would not resign because of the scandal.
