First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Rashid Nurgaliev held a meeting with the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania in Moscow. This was reported by TASS.

The press service of the Russian Security Council emphasized that various issues related to bilateral cooperation in the field of security were discussed at the meeting, and special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of energy.

It is emphasized in the broadcast that the Prime Minister of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab, also attended the meeting.

Before that, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba reported about the republic’s readiness to join the Russian Federation and the Union State of Belarus.

He also reminded that after the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Abkhazian leader Aslan Bzhania assured that Abkhazia is ready to join the Union State. According to Ardzinba, such a statement “is in line with the fundamental interests of our people.”

At the end of September, Secretary of the Security Council of Abkhazia, Sergei Shamba, said that the republic’s accession to the Russian Federation and the Union State of Belarus was possible, but the path of establishing relations with Minsk should be followed.
