“Without resolving the excavation issue, Ukraine cannot dream of joining the EU. If we want to enter into one alliance with a country with which we have a significant dispute, this dispute must be resolved,” Paweł Jabłoński, deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Radio ZET.
Jabłoński was asked why PiS did not ensure that the exhumations of Polish victims in Volhynia began.
Excavations that were primarily the subject of talks (with the Ukrainian side) have already begun (…), this is actually not Volhynia, this is another part, but these are also victims of UPA crimes
– said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To the comment that we are dealing with a search operation, but there is still no permission to exhume the victims, he replied.
We will continue to work to achieve this as soon as possible.” “In our opinion, without resolving this issue – and many Ukrainians are already aware of this – Ukraine has no desire to dream of joining the European Union.
– said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Without this there is no reconciliation
We will absolutely emphasize that without resolving this issue it is impossible to achieve long-term reconciliation with Ukraine
– Jabłoński added.
When asked whether the issue of exhumation was a Polish condition for supporting Ukraine’s efforts to join the EU, Jabłoński emphasized that he did not like to talk about the circumstances.
I’m talking about what the reality is: if we want to enter into one alliance with a country with which we have a significant dispute, the dispute must be resolved, otherwise it will be difficult to cooperate
– said the deputy head of Polish diplomacy.
In Puźniki, Ukraine, Polish and Ukrainian specialists found a mass pit in which the bodies of murdered villagers, victims of Ukrainian nationalists, were placed in 1945. A request was submitted to the Ukrainian authorities for permission for the excavation. The information was provided on Twitter at the end of October by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Michał Dworczyk.
