Jerzy Szmit, publicist and former PiS MP, submits a report on suspicion of committing a crime in connection with a series of articles by “Gazeta Wyborcza”, entitled “We thank you already”, in which the names and surnames of people who performed various public functions during the rule of law and justice – as the wPolityce.pl portal learns. The above texts also included an encouragement to inform “GW” about other people

Jerzy Szmit points out in his message to the Public Prosecution Service that the mentioned texts of “GW” include the “use of an unlawful threat against a group of people because of their political beliefs” (Article 119 of the Criminal Code), as well as “insulting a group of people because of their national, ethnic or racial religious beliefs or because of their non-denominational nature” (Article 257 of the Criminal Code).
““Gazeta Wyborcza” has been pursuing for years an article that is contrary to the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. 32, international law, art. 21 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, Polish Criminal Code, art. 119 and 257 a policy of humiliation, contempt and deprivation of the dignity and basic civil and human rights of people identified as associated with the Law and Justice Party
– he says in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal Jerzy Szmitexplaining his decision.
He uses lies, slander and manipulation. The campaign of anger, aggression and hatred is intended to create the impression in public opinion that people who, according to Gazeta Wyborcza, are associated with PiS should be removed from public life and have no right to hold any public office.
– he makes it clear.
““Gazeta Wyborcza” organizes media campaigns against members and supporters of Law and Justice and encourages its readers to point out people suspected of having ties to Law and Justice. Special ban lists are drawn up to put pressure on them, remove them from their work and stigmatize them. Such lists were drawn up by the Soviet and German occupiers. People who reported to the occupiers were called szmalcowniks. In 1968, the communist regime that ruled Poland repeated this practice, this time targeting citizens of Jewish nationality who were forced to leave Poland.
– he adds.
If this shameful process, which violates the fundamental rights of our Western civilization, is not stopped, ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’ and its fanatical readers will go further and spread a wave of hatred and repression against families and others deemed to be associated with Law and Justice. . I will inform Polish and international organizations working for human rights and media freedom about this situation. And I expect a position on this issue. If the media wants to call itself free, it cannot be an instrument of oppression, repression and devaluation of people because of their ties, relationships or sympathy with a political party that has been operating legally for more than twenty years.
