Although opposition politicians do not yet have a coalition agreement, they are already eager to come to power. They urge President Andrzej Duda to hand over the mission to form a government to Donald Tusk as soon as possible. Moreover, they prefer to withdraw slowly rather than presenting a plan to implement their promises, but it is much easier for them to say what they will eliminate. And so MP Michał Szczerba announced the liquidation of “17 PiS institutions” in an interview with OKO.Press.

The grand plan to liquidate the institution
The politician, in a conversation with Adam Leszczyński, argued that the institutions created during the PiS government were a pumping station of money and a safe house for the uneducated mouths of PiS.
The task of some of them was to buy the support of extreme circles. The Institute for the Heritage of National Thought was responsible for this. Roman Dmowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, who managed the funds of the Patriotic Fund. Tens of millions were pumped from it to right-wing and nationalist organizations
– Szczerba noted.
During the conversation, the MP mentioned the National Freedom Institute, which announced a competition for PLN 60 million after the elections. Szczerba announced the annulment. He also criticizes the Polish National Foundation, saying it “works like a classic launderette”.
Soon it will be cited in academic textbooks as an example of political corruption
– he said.
When asked whether institutions that also do ‘something good’ will be liquidated, he replied:
I wanted to make it very clear that positive actions will continue, but only those actions that deserve it.
Together with NGOs, we will develop new standards, principles and procedures for the co-financing of projects in a transparent procedure. Beneficiaries must have organizational and human resources and experience to ensure implementation. The money will not disappear, but go to those who actually exist, have potential and do something socially good
– he announced.
What about the Pilecki Institute and the Institute for National Remembrance? Szczerba argues that some IP projects are important. As for the Institute of National Remembrance, Szczerba announced a “drastic” reduction in its budget.
The IPN budget for 2024 should be drastically reduced and limited to statutory tasks. For example, resources should be allocated to strengthening the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights and implementing legal protections for whistleblowers. No more such absurd historical PiS policies. And the future of the institution itself will be decided by the new Sejm
– he said.
We must first liquidate those institutions that are money pumping stations. (…) Before they are liquidated, we must account for what we find there, that is to say, conduct an audit, terminate some contracts and recover the money. Corporate social responsibility is logical, but PiS people have turned it into a caricature
– said Szczerba.
“Take over the sources of subsidies and give them to your own sources
Jerzy Kwaśniewski from Ordo Iuris commented on the interview with the citizen platform politician on Platform X.
17 institutions will be liquidated. A single liquidation entity must be established by law. Conducting formal inspections of beneficiary expenditures and entities. But ultimately the new government simply wants to take over the sources of subsidies and give them to their own sources
– He wrote.
