Since the budget hole, treacherously left by PiS so that the future government could fall into it and never emerge again, does not make it possible to fulfill the promises made during the election campaign, it may be worth it to think about what can be fulfilled almost immediately for free. . Yes, you read that correctly. An election promise that doesn’t require spending a cent to fulfill! It is completely free to complete! At least on paper. It was submitted by both Donald Tusk and the leaders of the Third Way.
The fulfillment of this promise burdens the Third Way even more than Tusk himself, although it was the leader of the Platform who “swore” to fulfill it. But what is it about, someone may ask? Okay, I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. It is about… RECONCILIATION.
Let’s start with the Third Way, because ‘reconciliation’ is almost in its DNA. Just eight days before the election, leaders at the convention in Krakow argued that reconciliation was necessary “The most important thing the future government must do”. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that PiS rule has led to divisions in society and quarrels within families, which in turn threatens commonly understood security.
We must chase away those who have been causing strife for eight years. People don’t talk to each other. This is the greatest evil – because then there is no security
– said the leader of the People’s Party.
A few days later, on October 13, Kosiniak-Kamysz and Hołownia renewed their demands for reconciliation in Warsaw.
The new government’s first task after October 15 will be reconciliation. There will be no safe Poland, no good Polish school, no good relations in families if there is no reconciliation. Reconciliation does not mean that we all become the same (…). Without reconciliation between different communities there will be no security and there will be no better Poland
– argued Hołownia.
Reconciliation, but who with whom? Between politicians? Poland? Which environments? What would it look like? Should someone apologize to someone? Who will be the first to extend a hand of approval? Kosiniak-Kamysz and Hołownia do not answer these questions. But Professor Tusk is more precise.
At the end of March, the chairman of the Platform, and probably soon the new Prime Minister, indicated the condition whose fulfillment is necessary for reconciliation, and even directly indicated to whom it should apply.
A necessary but insufficient condition for national reconciliation is holding the current government accountable for its evil actions, thefts and deaths of people.
– he said at the end of March in Sosnowiec.
But Tusk immediately emphasized during a meeting with young people at the Campus Academy that this reconciliation would not be that simple.
Unfortunately, we won’t have the comfort of “let’s make it up to you” in the near future. I would very much like to, but I do not believe it is possible to announce from one day to the next: there is national harmony and Kaczyński will be as gentle as a lamb, Czarnek will be an example of delicacy and tenderness towards students, etc.
– said Tusk.
And after these words everything seems clearer: there will be national harmony, but Kaczyński and Czarnek must disappear. Or better yet, make all Law and Justice disappear. Then there will be consent.
Tusk later emphasized in his speech that “PiS as a political formation has chosen evil” and added that he disagrees with the assessment that two sides of the political dispute are responsible for the brutal language in Polish politics.
I feel internal rebellion when I hear such seemingly objective diagnoses: something is happening to our language, the situation needs to be resolved – this is the dreamscape for PiS, that is, for the oppressor in this matter
– he said.
We have to fight and we can’t let ourselves be convinced that everyone is a little guilty, the truth is somewhere in between, let’s admit it and maybe things will work out. No, I’m not going to resign because I know who is doing bad things in Poland
– added.
Now let’s move on to the Tusk March, which took place in Warsaw on June 4. Here the PO leader promised to the assembled audience:
We go to these elections to win, to settle scores and to right human wrongs. And then to reconcile Polish families. I promise you: victory, solving evil, righting injustice and reconciliation between Poland. I also appeal to all those who do not know who to vote for, who voted for PiS. They see this evil too, I meet them on the road, they may not like me, but their faces are concerned.
Those in power who have harmed a common man and attacked the Constitution will be held accountable. There will be no reduced rate. We need to give those hurt by it the confidence that it will be resolved. We must work for reconciliation (…). We will respect each other, we will love one homeland. They did not kill our hope, they did not kill our faith in victory
– said Tusk.
And here we finally have something specific. The PO leader said clearly: “I promise you: (…) reconciliation between Poles.” So we can draw the conclusion that these are the voters of the opposition and of Law and Justice. Excellent!
But how should you do this? Tusk says that before reconciliation can take place, those who have caused harm must first be held accountable. Who is this about? Tusk is extremely precise here. This is of course about Kaczyński. But how will the PiS government’s accountability lead to reconciliation? Perhaps Tusk’s point is that if PiS voters are shown the alleged crimes of the previous ruling team, these voters will understand what evil people they supported and immediately throw themselves, like a prodigal son, into the arms of their merciful father, Tusk , will throw. confess their sins. Yes, I think this is what Tusk means.
It is clear that there is a large group of people in Poland who are simply fed up with the fierce disputes of recent years. This is not surprising. I think, among other things: hence the good result of the Third Way, which presented itself as the one that could put an end to this dispute. However, Tusk in his story cleverly transferred responsibility for this conflict to the current (still) government, which should lead to simple conclusions: they (i.e. Kaczyński’s camp) are responsible for this dispute. And Tusk, and with him the new government, will use this argument every time PiS, as an opposition party, protests against something. “See? They criticize our ideas, our policies, they always say ‘no’. They don’t want permission, they constantly criticize and incite conflict. They must remain silent, they have divided us before” – this will Tusk against the Poles say. There will be no reconciliation.
But no matter what Tusk would say in the future, he promised to bring about reconciliation, so I believe that PiS will not be any obstacle for this great European to achieve this wonderful goal. After all, it’s a promise that, at least on paper, doesn’t cost a cent, so failing to keep it would be unprecedented on a global scale. And Kosiniak-Kamysz and Hołownia will probably ensure that Poles from both sides of the Vistula meet and fall into each other’s arms.
And everyone lived happily ever after…
