“I smile because today we see that even some publicists are beginning to justify Donald Tusk’s impotence by saying that it will not be so easy. He made a solemn promise, but of course he wasn’t going to do it. This is probably not the first lie and not the first promise that will remain unfulfilled,” said Beata Kempa, PiS MEP and former head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Beata Kempa.

wPolityce.pl: On August 27, PO leader Donald Tusk “solemnly” promised that he would go to Brussels the day after the elections and unblock the KPO funds. It is the second day after the elections. We heard from MP Katarzyna Lubnauer that it was just a ‘metaphor’, from Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski – that everything depends on how quickly President Andrzej Duda appoints Donald Tusk as Prime Minister. So what about the KPO for Poland?
Beata Kempa: These are their typical tricks. The President of the Republic of Poland has his own prerogatives and will decide primarily in accordance with the canons, but also with the political culture and the will of the voters. Unlike Civic Coalition politicians who organize such ‘trips’ against him, the president will respect everyone.
But this is what politics will look like now – just like before 2015. We have been experiencing this for many years, and even now we have the first ‘swallows’. There will be so much political insolence, different language, different people, and disrespect for the head of state will be the order of the day. We must prepare for all this.
On the Internet you can already, half jokingly, come across statements that Tusk managed to break his first promise before he formed the government.
I smile because today we see that even some publicists are beginning to justify Donald Tusk’s impotence by saying that it will not be so easy. He made a solemn promise, but of course he wasn’t going to do it. This is probably not the first lie and not the first promise that will go unfulfilled.
He will probably make other promises, but we only heard those promises between the lines. This means, for example, a significant reduction or even liquidation of all these social programs. Many of the achievements and achievements of the Polish right wing could end up in the trash. But hey, that was the association’s decision. We’ll see, and for now we still have time to cool down, announce the results and form a new government. And if Donald Tusk becomes leader, we can certainly expect a return to pre-2015 policies. They certainly did not learn their lesson in political culture during this period.
Will Donald Tusk – in exchange for removing PiS from power, but also for pursuing a different, more docile policy than the current government – manage to obtain money from the KPO for Poland?
I think it might be different depending on what kind of hostage Donald Tusk is. Perhaps there will be more demands he will have to meet. We don’t know that.
At the start of the EP session, Manfred Weber congratulated Donald Tusk on his victory. Yet Tusk did not win. In percentage terms, the United Right won the elections. This is just a statement that makes the Germans happy that they will exert their influence. The question arises, however, what else the western neighbor will expect from him. Anyway, whatever it is, Tusk will certainly fulfill it, because he is a politician subservient to Brussels and Berlin.
For now, we just have to wait for the decision of the President, the Sejm, and what now?
Yes, we are quietly waiting for the president’s decision, there are constitutional steps. The emotions associated with the elections must pass, then the formation of a new government and then – regardless of what roles life assigns us – hard work. The only thing I regret is that what we managed to build and achieve for Polish families, for education, for the issue of Polish sovereignty and independence, may have been in vain. I regret this.
Thank you very much for the interview.
