Background and Operation Overview

A court proceeding led to a decisive action against a drug operation based in a rental home. The Civil Guard uncovered a scheme where buyers connected with sellers to conduct street-level drug transactions. During the operation, authorities confiscated approximately one kilogram of cocaine, several grams of marijuana, cash, and other related items. The effort aimed to shut down a local drug outlet and prevent further distribution in the area.

The arrests followed a month of investigations into a potential offshore point for selling various narcotics that began in October. The investigation aimed to map how offenses were organized and identify those responsible for the activities, with the goal of interrupting the illicit supply chain at its point of sale.

Investigation Details

The investigative unit at the Novelda Civil Guard Station initiated the operation, which carried the internal name Operation Cocost. After reviewing the collected information and evidence, investigators pinpointed the residents of the house where the alleged drug sales were taking place. The process relied on meticulous analysis of communications, transactions, and patterns of behavior linked to the suspects.

Background of the Suspects

The individuals identified were a 54-year-old man of Colombian nationality and a 42-year-old Hispanic woman. The latter had a prior police record with incidents resembling those under inquiry, which helped shape investigators’ suspicions about the couple’s involvement in the drug trade.

Over weeks of gathering evidence, authorities built a case that connected the couple to the sale of narcotics near the residence under scrutiny. The modus operandi involved a straightforward pattern: a consumer would contact the sellers, and one of the suspects would travel to complete the transaction. The clarity of this pattern helped officers establish a link between the home and ongoing street-level distribution.

Arrests and Seizures

On November 25, the operation proceeded to a targeted entry and search at the address under investigation. The intervention involved members of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) and the Sinological Service of the Civil Guard in Alicante. The arrests were executed as part of a coordinated plan to seize illegal substances and disrupt the sale network.

The seizure documented during the arrests included 800 grams of cocaine, 4 grams of marijuana, and 8 grams of marijuana derivative products. Authorities also recovered 2,700 euros in cash, several mobile devices, and a motor vehicle believed to be used in the operations. Those detained face charges related to drug trafficking and public health concerns.
