In Yakutia, officials have warned that three settlements in the Gorny region face the threat of partial flooding as water levels rise in nearby streams. DEA News, citing the republic’s operational headquarters, reported that the communities of Ert, Byas-Kyuel and Magaras are at risk because small rivers such as Khaar Balagan, Dyuktuene and Chakyya have swollen beyond their usual banks.
In Byas-Kyuel, a town previously highlighted by large forest fires, key local facilities are in the danger zone. A school, eighteen homes, a library, a museum and a post office are identified as vulnerable to floodwaters. The village of Yert is also affected, with eleven houses, a district boiler room and a gym named among the structures at risk.
The risk extends to the regional center, Berdigestyakh, where rising water has prompted officials to monitor conditions closely. Local authorities stated that residents were informed about the danger and that contingency plans, including temporary shelters, have been prepared should an evacuation become necessary.
Earlier, authorities in Novokuznetsk initiated moving disabled residents to safer locations in response to rising water levels, underscoring the broader concern about flood risk in neighboring regions and the need for rapid response protocols.
Officials emphasize that ongoing surveillance of river levels and weather conditions will guide any further protective actions. Community leaders are coordinating with emergency services to ensure that vulnerable residents receive timely information and access to safe shelter, if required. The situation remains fluid as rainfall patterns and river flow are continually assessed to minimize disruption to daily life and public services across the affected settlements.
