Universities Minister Joan Subirats argued in Valencia yesterday that the need to “rethink the process of decentralization of public institutions in factual terms and not in terms of such identity”.
In his statements to Efe, Subirats argued that the Government is on this line, starting with a very central presence of all institutions in Madrid. In this context, he reminded that it has been approved that competitions for the establishment of representative institutions will be organized by different regions.
Ximo Puig, during the closing of the seminar, advocated decentralized symbolic elements such as Hispanic Day and electoral debates so they weren’t just held in Madrid. He also considered it necessary to involve social agents and citizens in a system of “multi-level governance”. He cited the Alcem-nos reconstruction pact with citizen participation or the Vega Renhace plan as an example.
