During a meeting with voters in Szamotuły, Rafał Trzaskowski decided to raise the issue of teacher salaries. The Minister of Education and Science responded strongly to his words.
Trzaskowski argued that his party, after potentially winning the election, would improve the lot of teachers. He promised, among other things, increases.
Today the Poles want to talk about specific matters. Let’s slim down the core curriculum. Let’s pay teachers more. Let’s plan the best possible education
– he said.
The minister’s response
Minister Przemysław Czarnek responded to Trzaskowski’s words. The head of the Ministry of Education and Science pointed out to the mayor of Warsaw that pay increases for teachers in the capital could have already taken place if the mayor had managed the budget differently.
Prof. Czarnek recalled, among other things: about the huge amounts of money spent by the Warsaw authorities on non-governmental organizations.
Mr. Trzaskowski, you could have paid more to the teachers as the body that manages the schools in Warsaw, at least half of the PLN 1.5 billion that M. St. Warsaw has spent on non-governmental organizations since 2016. You prefer to support street tactics training and use Librus to politicize schools instead of fulfilling your legal obligations of running schools! Meanwhile, the PiS government guaranteed further budget increases for teachers from January 1, 2024. A novice teacher earns 100% more than in 2015, that is, about PLN 5.5 thousand. zloty. Your wish never came to fruition, and that’s a good thing, because then we’d see Poland overrun with illegal immigrants
– we read in the article by Prof. Czarnka.
