Armenian public organizations “Homeland Shield”, “Reserve Officers” and “Reserve Officers of the National Security Service” called on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to approve the aid package proposed by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for the deployment of peacekeeping forces on the border with Azerbaijan. writes about this TASS.
“Taking into account the threats facing Armenia and Artsakh (unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic – socialbites.ca) and the high probability of new large-scale military operations or war, we once again demand that Nikol Pashinyan sign the aid package immediately. In the statement, it was stated that the CSTO recommended the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
Members of the organization also appealed to the heads of the state security forces, demanding to “show will” within the framework of existing authorities in order to prevent the development of events that are dangerous for Armenia and could lead to a military conflict.
At a government meeting on September 7, Pashinyan said that Azerbaijan was concentrating its troops along the country’s border and the border line with Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, in the past week the military-political situation in the region has deteriorated significantly.
Later, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Prime Minister Pashinyan’s statement regarding Baku’s troop concentration on the border of the two countries and in Karabakh as “political manipulation”.
Previously Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on mutual recognition of each other’s territorial integrity.
