The average length of court proceedings decreased between 2021 and 2022; the courts have handled almost half a million additional cases – Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro said at a press conference on Sunday.
Streamlining the work of the courts
Statistical data that allow conclusions to be drawn between 2022 and 2021 (…) clearly indicate that the average length of proceedings has been reduced, that is to say, things have accelerated. Well, the courts will have handled almost half a million more cases in 2022 than in the previous year
Ziobro said.
The minister has indicated that the duration of the procedure will be 7.1 months in 2021 and 5.9 months in 2022.
Courts in civil cases ruled after an average of 8.9 months in 2021, while there is a clear acceleration in 2022, because it only takes 8 months. In 2021, the court proceedings in civil cases were longer and amounted to 7.6 months. While in 2022 – 6.1 months
said the minister.
“Record mediation results”
Referring to the statistics, he said that the courts have also dealt with the arrears.
Sure, we can also talk about record brokerage results. We have been recognized as a leader in the EU in mediation, which is carried out thanks to new digital technologies
Ziobro said.
According to him, there are positive trends in the judiciary, which – as he said – are the result of the digital revolution in the courts.
Despite the extremely unfavorable circumstances related to the Italian protests, the strike of a large number of judges, (…) despite the difficulties and obstacles presented to us by the European Commission and also the obstacles presented by the opposition, we manage to positive results of the change in the judiciary in terms of length of proceedings, where these obstacles did not exist or we managed to avoid them
remarked Ziobro.
“During Tusk’s reign, the courts were slower and slower in ruling.”
When asked by PAP about the reasons for the delay in the work of the courts over the past eight years, he replied:
Along the way we had Covid and the courts lockdown for several months. At that time, things piled up, they were not dealt with, wardrobes swelled, and today we are faced with this problem. (…) I could show data showing that in some categories of cases the situation has improved compared to PO’s rule.
According to the Minister of Justice, under the administration of PO-PSL, the results of the work of the courts became weaker.
During Donald Tusk’s reign, even though there was no Covid, the courts were slower and slower and results after eight years of rule were weaker, not better
– he said.
He added that under the rule of PiS, many indicators related to the work of the courts are improving, despite the Covid epidemic, the blockade of judicial reforms and the opposition of some judges, among others.
