The relationship between the main opposition forces and the referendumwhich will take place on October 15, the day of the parliamentary elections, in the same polling stations. Vague announcements of a boycott are accompanied by fears that the issues raised in the questions are really important to the Poles and that it is impossible to incite them to obstruction.
This is confirmed by a survey conducted by the Social Changes studio on behalf of the wPolityce.pl portal. We asked the respondents the same questions that they will see on the ballot paper for the referendum.
Let’s look at the results.
Do you support the sale of state property to foreign entities, leading to the loss of control of Polish women and men over strategic sectors of the economy?
YES – 13 percent, NO – 87 percent
Are you in favor of raising the retirement age, including reducing the retirement age to 67 for men and women?
YES – 25 percent, NO – 75 percent
Do you support the removal of the barrier on the border between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Belarus?
YES – 18 percent, NO – 82 percent
Do you support the acceptance of thousands of illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Africa, under the forced displacement mechanism imposed by the European bureaucracy?
YES – 18 percent, NO – 82 percent
The position of the Poles seems unequivocal. In this situation, the main task of the advocates of a strong social blockade in this area is to mobilize voters to participate in the referendum.
The research was conducted using the CAWI method (Computer Assisted Web Interview) on an online panel on August 18-21, 2023, on a nationwide, representative (in terms of: gender, age, size of residence) sample of Poland . N=1062 people participated in the study.
